On May 27th, 2016 the nineth installment of the X-Men series will be released in 2D, RealD 3D and IMAX 3D theaters in the USA and Canada: X-Men: Apocalypse. The movie has already been released in the UK on May 9th. The movie is directed by Bryan Singer with a screenplay from Simon Kinberg. Some of the cast that plays in the movie are:
- James McAvoy as Charles Xavier, or Professor X
- Michael Fassbender as Erik Lehnsherr, or Magneto
- Jennifer Lawrence as Raven Darkhölme, or Mystique
- And Oscar Isaac as En Sabah Nur, or Apocalypse
X-Men: Apocalypse, the story
Sabur Nur, the psychic mutant Apocalypse was entomded in ancient Egypt. Much later, in 1983, he is awakened and learns what the world has become without his presence. He does not like what he sees and intends to rebuild the world from the ground up. This means he needs to destroy and take over first. In order to do so, he is recruiting a new Four Horsemen to take over the world that he wants to rule. Raven and Professor X will lead a team of young X-Men to stop him and save mankind from destruction.
Filming has started in April 2015 in Montreal, Canada and ended in August. The final filming ended in January 2016. The movie is expected to gross $120M in the first four days after release, during the Memorial Day weekend.
